About

Snoqualmie Valley Women in Business

Mission

We help connect professional women and business owners that support in-person and on-line business growth, while developing lasting relationships through a warm and authenticity-based networking environment.

WHAT MOTIVATED THE START OF THE GROUP, AND WHEN DID THE GROUP BEGIN MEETING?
SVWIB was originally a SnoValley Chamber of Commerce Committee. However, they broke off to become their own non-profit in 2008, as the feeling was at that time that the Chamber was rather ‘an old boys’ club’ and not embracing the Committee. SVWIB became a networking group that has evolved over the years into an entity of its own.

ONE OR TWO OF THE BIGGEST WORK-RELATED CHALLENGES FOR SVWIB MEMBERS AT THIS TIME?
Staying on task or the bigger picture on mission. When to recognize it’s time to quit and when it’s time to persevere. And how to shake it up.

TWO MEMBERS WITH EXCITING RECENT SUCCESSES AND WHAT ARE THE SUCCESSES?
Members Kimberlea Miller and Denise Romary last year made their dream come true, by opening a unique wine shop and restaurant in North Bend. Denise, a fitness instructor with a background in hospitality brings her passion for Greek influenced farm to table food in a perfect match with Kimberlea’s incomparable knowledge of Washington Wines. Wildflower Wine Shop has quickly become one of the places to meet, eat and have fun in the Valley. Networking with SVWIB has been a huge part of making this dream come true. Our support, through promoting, sharing and believing is ongoing.

Member Kaylee Harris joined SVWIB as the Office Manager at SnoValley Chamber of Commerce and through her involvement with SVWIB quickly found herself taking a jump up the corporate ladder to an important marketing position in our local SnoFalls Credit Union. Life seemed sweet and a career map laid out ahead of her, so she used her connections in the group to plan her wedding day. Making professional use of members’ services and inviting friends from the group, there were times when Kaylee and Tyler’s wedding day seemed like a SVWIB event on steroids. Then came another change. A member of our group head-hunted Kaylee to join the up and coming, start-up from California, BulletProof. Three weeks ago, Kaylee became part of the management team with a dream job that has her working from home and travelling in the near future.

ANY INTERESTING POINTS YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE ABOUT THE GROUP
SVWIB is professional and at the same time welcoming. Our Mission Statement expressed our core value of inclusivity:
We help connect professional women and business owners that support in-person and on-line business growth, while developing lasting relationships through a warm and authenticity-based networking environment.

It’s about supporting women, as opposed to being women. Our membership includes both men and other non-profit and professional organizations. Our members include at-home moms with part-time business ventures, full-time professional self-employed people, those who work for corporations and those who simply want to be part of our community. Our tag-line ‘Building business through building relationships’ has us uniquely situated in the growing networking market, as modern, on task, inclusive and supportive.

SVWIB invites business women who live and/or work in the Snoqualmie Valley to join us at one of our monthly luncheons (second Wednesday of each month).
